The statement below is a quote taken from the by-laws of the GGB, H & TD.


The mission of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway &
Transportation District (District) is to provide a safe, efficient,
reliable means for the movement of people, goods, and services within the Highway 101, Golden Gate Corridor. In carrying out this mission, the District maintains the Golden Gate Bridge in a structurally sound condition, provides bus and ferry public transit services, and carries out
its activities in a cost-effective, fiscally responsible manner.

Further, the District recognizes its responsibility to work as a partner with federal, state, regional, and local governments and agencies to best meet the transportation needs of the people, communities, and businesses of San Francisco and the North Bay areas.
